about moodlog
moodlog is a research-driven journaling app that helps turn short, everyday reflections into structured emotion insights using natural language processing. write a few sentences about your day, and we use a fine-tuned roberta model to detect emotional patterns over time.
built by a bu graduate computer science student who wanted a better way to understand their own head. the whole thing started as a research project and turned into something people actually use.
moodlog is for research and product development only. not a medical or therapeutic service.
the pitch
turn messy thoughts
into patterns
most journaling apps ask you to pick an emoji or rate your day 1-10. moodlog lets you just write, then does the emotion analysis for you. eight primary emotions from plutchik's wheel, tracked over time, so you can actually see what's going on instead of guessing.

what it does
write. short journal entries. a few sentences, a few minutes. that's it.
detect. a fine-tuned roberta transformer reads your entry and tags emotions automatically. no emoji pickers, no sliders.
track. eight emotions from plutchik's wheel, mapped over days, weeks, months. see the patterns you can't see yourself.
connect. optional peer connections for checking in on people you care about. not social media. just "hey, you good?"
encrypt. journal text is encrypted at rest. your messy thoughts stay yours.
brand assets
brand name
always moodlog. lowercase, one word. no camelCase, no caps. we're chill like that.
tagline
"turn messy thoughts into patterns"
brand voice
lowercase. direct. a little casual but not trying too hard. we talk about serious stuff (mental health, nlp, privacy) without being clinical about it. light humor is fine. condescension is not.
brand colors
primary palette. black, white, and two grays. that's the whole brand.
emotion colors
plutchik's eight. opposing emotions stacked. these show up in charts, chips, and visualizations throughout the app.
